My Review: A Great Blend of Fun & Dark, of Contemporary & Fantasy

This was great! It was the perfect mix of fun and dark. Since I'm not usually one for fantasy and paranormal stories, I really appreciated how it started off in a more contemporary manner.

I got to know Perrie and Maisie well from seeing their everyday interactions, and they were really relatable as 18-year-olds! Once Perrie entered the glass vault, things started getting really interesting, and the suspense picked up. I won't give away too much here--wouldn't want to give out any spoilers! BUT, I really enjoyed how this book incorporated aspects of classic stories and legends, like the Headless Horseman, Jack the Ripper, and Snow White. It was such a fun adventure living out these stories with Perrie.

There was also a ton of suspense in this--the whole time I was trying to figure out what was going on, but the twist at the end was totally unexpected! (In a good way; when I look back on the rest of the story, it was definitely building up to that.) Overall, a really great debut novel. This does have a cliffhanger ending, so I'm looking forward to part 2!
